
RSPU-1.0 is a Radar Signal Processing Unit which can be used as a standard signal processing block for implementation of a pulsed radar system. The unit generates comprehensive user configurable timing and control signals for operation of a radar and accepts received radar analog signals at intermediate frequency to compute range-doppler spectrum in real time. This is done by performing a series of signal processing steps on the received signal digitally. The unit can accept either a single channel radar signal for basic pulse radar processing or can accept multiple radar echo signals for cross spectral radar signal processing.

This unit implements complex functional modules required in typical pulsed radar signal processing systems. IF Rx analog inputs and Mon analog outputs are implemented through high speed ADC and DAC devices with all further processing implemented as parallel executing digital blocks. RSPU-1.0 manages all critical administrative functions such as configuration, monitoring, diagnostics etc. using a micro-controller. RSPU-1.0 offers communication interfaces such as 10/100/1000 Mbps ethernet, RS232/RS422 and USB ports. All internal and timing/control signal output from RSPU-1.0 can be synchronized with an external Master Clock source using internal Phase Locked Loop (PLL).
RSPU-1.0 implements a very flexible and configurable timing and control signal generator with precise setting of different timings such as inter pulse period (IPP). High performance in radar signal processing in RSPU-1.0 is a result of well synchronized receive signal processing with these transmit timing/control signals. RSPU-1.0 implements various signal processing steps like digital down conversion (DDC) to baseband (from IF), matched filtering for pulse decoding, coherent integration, Doppler spectrum, incoherent integration synchronized timing and control signal generation, diagnostic functions and data / configuration communication with a host computer (radar controller) through its efficient embedded firmware.
